Music Greats

Collecting yesterday's best!

  • “If music be the food of love, play on…”

Duke Orsino, in Shakespear’s play Twelfth Night Act 1, scene 1, 1–3, has “convinced himself that he’s insanely in love with a wealthy and resistant lady, who is in mourning for her brother and only annoyed by Orsino’s inappropriate attentions. The duke’s idea of a cure for his disease is to stuff himself sick with his own passions.

“ The full quote is: “If music be the food of love, play on; give me excess of it, that surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and die.” (copied from http://www.enotes.com/shakespeare-quotes/music-food-love-play).

I share the Duke’s passion and cure for my ailments – music! And quite frankly, music is one of my simplest joys in life!

  • Blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
    All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
    All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

    Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
    Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
    All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
